Hi and welcome to the History of Russia Podcast
I'm Damon, from Cambridgeshire in the United Kingdom. I'm not a History Professor or a formal student, (I'm actually a data migration project manager) but for a long time now I have been fascinated and intrigued by Russia and I've always loved history.
I started the podcast for three main reasons, firstly I wanted to understand and then tell the story, through historical events and characters, of why Russia is like it is, and perhaps more importantly, how it got to be like it is. Secondly, I wanted that story to be informative and fun and then thirdly, I wanted to do something on the 'creative' side of things.
The History of Russia Podcast will consist of two main themes - A chronological narrative of Russia's history from its very beginnings through to the modern era (which I'm doing now) and a more detailed look at a series of specific subjects and Russia's rich and unique culture.
I really hope that you will enjoy what I've got to say and that like me, you'll gain an informed understanding of the people and events that have made Russia what it is today. Oh, and perhaps you'll get to have a little bit of fun along the way!
